Taking Notes is a music show hosted by Lloyd Coleman, for an audience of music lovers and (in particular) music students. It focuses primarily on the next generation of musicians as they take their first steps onto the world stage. In each episode, Lloyd interviews one or two such musicians, playing tracks either produced by the artist concerned or music that is relevant to them in some way. Occasionally, there are features which will be about a topic relevant to music students, and we hope that as we grow we may persuade some well-established musicians to come and give special one-off interviews.
Series One was recorded in nine parts at the Royal Academy of Music and various other locations, between October 2013 and February 2014. Danny Holland, guitarist and close friend of Lloyd, produced the content which at that stage was only in audio form.
Series Two, which begins in May 2014, will see the show take a massive step forward, as guests will now be featured on camera both 'on location' and in the purpose-built studio that was made available to us at Ravensbourne College, North Greenwich. The production of these seven video episodes was made possible by Russell Yates, our esteemed director, who listened to the first series and joined the team with the idea of developing Taking Notes in this very exciting way. Never before has there been a music show on this scale about young musicians, for young musicians and made by young musicians.
