We know many of you will be preparing for auditions at the various conservatoires around the U.K this winter. Jonathan Freeman-Attwood - highly renowned as a trumpeter, writer, record producer and Principal of the Royal Academy of Music - joins Lloyd to give his invaluable advice to those facing an audition. They discuss everything from practical matters such as programming and dress, to the more psychological aspects of preparing for such an event. If you do have an audition of any sort coming up, then we think you'd do well to listen to their conversation!
Anna Hashimoto | clarinettist
Having made her concerto debut with the English Chamber Orchestra at the age of fifteen, Anna Hashimoto has continued to impress critics and audiences across the globe on the path to becoming one of the leading young musicians of today. She joins Lloyd to talk about her debut album, A Touch of France, recorded with pianist Daniel King-Smith which explores the repertoire for clarinet and piano from across the channel. We hear two movements from sonatas by Saint-Saëns and Poulenc, and an extract from a (slightly unusual) third piece. Anna also reflects on her studies with Michael Collins, the musical culture in her birthplace, Japan, and other areas of her musical life such as her work with the leading Atéa Wind Quintet.
